Autobiography

Here are the pics of everything I got done yesterday.  Again, the pendants didn’t come out as well as I hoped, but at least I know how to fix it before we do the next batch.  Live and learn!

Skipping Stones

Wow.  Today has been a great day.  Hubby essentially gave me the day off by taking care of kidlet today.  I got pictures dumped off the camera onto the computer and a couple edited.  I finished curing my jewelry pendants and although they didn’t come out like I had hoped, it was a test run, and a good one.  I got 3 canvases prepped and one collage done.  I haven’t gotten a chance to work on this many of “my” projects in at least over a year.  I’m feeling really well.  I’ll have pics here tomorrow, as my camera’s SD Card and my computer are not liking each other at the moment.
Speaking of tomorrow, as we were sitting down to supper tonight, the phone rings.  I thought, “So help me God, if this is another Call from the Republicans….” I look at our caller ID which read my work number.  I answer to hear my boss telling me that I don’t need to come in tomorrow because essentially she can’t afford to have me there tomorrow, but she will pay me for 3 hours of work I can do from home for the business website, and she finished the conversation letting me know that I would see her on Monday as usual.  Wow.  I’ve been working there 6 years, and this has never happened nor have I ever heard of it happening before.  I wonder if I need to start looking for a web-based side job…anyone hiring?
So, I guess this leaves me with time tomorrow.  I guess I’ll clean the house after I drop kidlet off at daycare and I’ll do yard work in the afternoon.  Or maybe I’ll just drink all day.  (Kidding!)
I’ve wrapped up Chpt. 4 of my Floral Design Course.  I’m at a 96% and am waiting for my next shipment to come in which will give me what I need for Chpts. 5-9.  For as many “irons in the fire” as I have right now, I feel more productive than ever.
In the meantime, it’s time for me to nod off….

You Want What?

Wow, what a day.  We were busy at the Floral Shop, but my head wasn’t there.  It was around the world, thinking about everything, thinking about nothing.  Just one of those days.
The day was mainly dominated by Funeral work once again.  Then, a gentleman decided that he wanted to send his Girlfriend a Lime Tree for Sweetest Day (which is this weekend…you’re welcome.)  That was fine, it was when he asked me to put fresh flowers in it that I got a little frustrated (although not expressed until AFTER the phone call.)  Oh well, hopefully she was happy.   It was certainly the oddest order I had today.
Sweetest Day is fast fading, I think.  It’s a regional holiday having originated in Milwaukee a long time ago (you like my history lessons?)  It’s mainly known of/celebrated in the Mid-West.  I like to think of it as a Holiday for new couples or guys in the doghouse.
One poor guy was so lost on what to get his partner.  He asked me what I liked the best.  I gave the “Politically Incorrect” answer–seeing I work in a floral shop–that I like music and jewelry the best.  Luckily, he still bought something from us.  I know I have to watch that, but I’m so…genuine. -Not in an Holyier-than-thou way, but in a what-pops-in-my-head-pops-out-of-my-mouth way.  I need a full time censor I think.  I would keep them busy, that’s for sure.
Then I realized.  Music and jewelry are 2 of most sentimental, LASTING ways of expression.  As I’ve said before, nothing can bring you back to a certain place, or time or person like a certain song–Which I LOVE.  And jewelry can be always with you as a reminder of a sentiment.  So many of my jewelry pieces have a story or history behind them.  I love that too.
Anyway, I digress, but it’s been that sort of day.  I’m off to unwind with a book and some music.

Stop the Presses!  STOP THE PRESSES!!!!  I believe that shift you felt was the world ceasing turning and I’m pretty sure everyone is getting off single-file now.  I FINISHED SOMETHING!!!!!!

See?  SEE!?!?!?!  A new necklace to replace my old one!  Yay!  It took a long time, but it was worth it!
So, if I’ve come across as crazy by asking for people’s old magazines, this is what they’re for.
You’re still taking me to the institution though, aren’t you?  Oh well, lemme get my supplies at least……

An Unexpected Great Day

Big News First:  MY ORCHID IS FINALLY BLOOMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  (Pics to come in a minute…hold your horses)
Otherwise, this turned into an unexpected great day.  I guess it really started yesterday when one of my Hubby’s friends from camp brought us some outdoor toys for kidlet.  Little did I expect a freaking Jungle Gym!  It’s amazing!  They also brought books and a toy vanity, a lamp and a PFD for kidlet.  I’m speechless!
Today my parents came to visit, and they got to see my Orchid.  More importantly, with the help of these new toys, they got to play and interact with kidlet.  It was great and exactly what I’ve been needing. (As odd as that is to say.)  With their help kidlet mastered climbing and going down the slide today!  It was so great to see.

Grandpa with Kidlet 🙂

They also brought some of my old things (from when I was a kid) for kidlet to use now, which is neat.   My dad also brought me some jewelry that I thought was long gone.  I was supposed to have inherited a diamond ring from my Great, Great Aunt, but I’ve been unable to track it down.  I didn’t know that my Dad had it this whole time!  I’m so happy!

I also found a locket from my childhood that I’ve often wondered about.  That in itself were two very nice surprises.
Our Wii paid for itself today.  I showed it to my parents, and my dad had a ball with it!  It was an easy 2 hours of fun together!
With all of these things, I really think this was the best visit with my parents in a long time.  Yay!
Now, onto my Orchid.  Oh you think I would attach it to THIS post?  Oh hell no!  I’m been waiting for this for too long…it gets a post by itself. 🙂
