Kindled My Heart….

I’m writing this morning with UNBELIEVABLY good news!  For the first time in roughly 20 mos. kidlet is sleeping through the night!  Last night was night #2.  This is the best news we could have gotten.  I was starting to age about a year a week. –Even attempting to rub what I thought was eyeliner off below my eye only to find it was a bag.  I can’t explain the horror felt.  There is a God!  He may even like me a little!
Also, yesterday a big item (as in expensive) got added to my Wish List, and put at the top of my “To Save Up For” list.  I’m not really expecting to get it, (unless I save for it) but I figure if kidlet can sleep through the night, hey, maybe miracles CAN happen. *shrug*
It’s Amazon’s “Kindle”.  I new OF it before, but only yesterday did I see all of the beautiful features it has.  In very simple terms, it’s an electronic book.  It has the capability (shipped as it is) to store 200 books in it’s existing memory.  If you add a memory card, that number jumps to 4,000 books.   It does not require a computer to use and through it’s own wireless network, there is instant access to 190,000 books.  The average cost per book download is anywhere from  $.99 to $2.00 (in comparison to anywhere to $15.00-$30.00 for the book in print.)  **New books and top sellers are $9.99 to download**  One can shop, search and buy straight from the device, and there’s a built in dictionary so in the middle of reading you can click on the word you don’t understand to see it’s definition.  I also realized another huge benefit to me would be the trashing of my bright book light to read at night which shines into kidlet’s room.
Anyway, this new fascination is Oprah’s fault–at least I can admit it.  It was through her show yesterday that I found out all of it’s wonderful features.  Of course the fact that I’m a reader and a gadget fanatic probably doesn’t help.–Ohhhh, THAT’S where Kidlet gets it!!!
Oh well…in the meantime, it’s back to the 3 paperbacks I have stacked next to my bed.
Here’s the link to this great product: (So you can see what the fuss is about.)

Happy Mother’s Day!

If you’re a mom and you’re reading this….Happy Mother’s Day!   Unfortunately, my Mom passed away almost 4 years ago (May 16th, 2004).  It sucks sometimes, but I also know that she is in a better place and now she’s always with me.   In any case, Happy Mother’s Day, Mom!
I spent yesterday replacing some plants in my gardens.  We also shopped at Menards and Aldi’s (for groceries.)  We then went out to eat for Mother’s Day and came home and got kidlet to bed.
I was tucked into the couch, watching Nascar, a laptop on my lap ready for the night, and my cell rang.  It was Amie and she wanted to know if I wanted to go out.  I hesitated…but Hubby insisted that I go and have some fun.  I went out and met the group at a local bar and had a good time.  I also played responsible and came home at 10:30….prude, I know.  But I wanted to be able to enjoy Mother’s Day instead of being hungover and tired.
As for today, Hubby greeted me with breakfast after I got to sleep in and gave me a card from kidlet which he had her sign with her hand prints in paint.  I love it!  They will also be getting me the book “The Last Lecture” when they can find (as stores have been sold out).  Hubby remembers me saying “I want that” after I saw it on TV.  He’s so awesome!
Kidlet is laying down at the moment.   When she wakes, we’ll get her lunch and hubby is going to take her into town to do some shopping and visit his mom.  This will give me sometime to perhaps do more gardening or just relax.  I need to savor this as this is the last quiet weekend around here for a long time. –It’s the perils of living in a Boy Scout Camp in Summer.

Me Time…

Hi there,
I found WordPress today through my Best Friend and her blog and I was impressed with the “Bells and Whistles” so I thought I’d give it a go.
For those who don’t know me I summed myself up in my profile…hopefully pretty timelessly (is that a word?) Anyway, I’m always changing in my interests and passions….meaning I always like the same things, but what I Love are the things that can change even from week to week.  I’ve always been like that, and I have no clue if it’s normal or not.
So, in the meantime, I can tell you at this moment I Love Orchids.  Cattleyas specifically.  I have two, ‘Candy Tuff’ and ‘Hawaiian Passion’ and three more on their way.  I also caved and bid on another last night.  I’ll know Thursday whether I’ll get it or not.  I don’t think it made my Hubby happy, but he’ll be okay.
My other Love at the moment is reading.  Specifically “A New Earth” by Eckhart Tolle (for the 2nd time.)  It’s really helping me ground myself which is what I need right now.
“The Secret” by Rhonda Byrnes is also a favorite of mine and “Ask and it is Given” was really great too.
And finally, I Love my camera, taking pictures of my daughter and nature and editing them with  I can thank my best friend Kimberly for that addiction too. 🙂  You can see my work to the right in my Flickr widget. 🙂
I picked up the knitting needles again and am slowly working on a Monkey for my up-coming GodSon (Due July 10th).  I was really into knitting over the winter and although I still really like it, I’ve temporarily lost a bit of interest.  I think Knitting is turning into a seasonal thing with me.  I won’t ever not like it though.  That’s for sure.
All in all I have ADD regarding my interests, and as I wrote in my profile, although even I sometimes find it annoying, I also think it keeps me interesting.
Guess that’s all for now!
